What is wrong with this country?

My new argument is, "Can you just go to the pharmacy and pick up whatever medication you NEED to stay ALIVE? Can you just walk in a buy your insulin? Or do you need a doctor's prescription? You need to pass a test and have a license and insurance to drive a car. You need a prescription to get your MEDICINE! Why should *anyone* be able to just walk in a store a buy a gun?" This actually worked earlier this week on my gun-toting, diabetic client (I usually refrain from political discussions at work, but this week, I couldn't keep it in).

My new argument (non likely to hit home with your gun-toting client) is this: why do we so heavily regulate marijuana, which has never been responsible for the murder of over 30 people, and yet any shmo without a police record can buy a gun at any time? And furthermore, why are the bullets available at WalMart? Sigh. I am disappointed at the values and priorities of my fellow Americans. They are so ill informed, but still so insistent on protecting the 2nd amendment at any cost to their communities.
